Understanding Insurance

If you are a current patient at Moon Brook Medicine and are using your health insurance for your acupuncture visits, be sure to update us if there is any change. Keeping your insurance information up-to-date ensures that your visits and treatments are properly billed without lag-time.


For those who wish to become a patient at Moon Brook Medicine and would like to use health insurance for your visits, we highly recommend that you call your insurance provider to verify if you have acupuncture coverage and to understand what your policy covers regarding treatment. Coverage details might vary.


If you choose to use your health insurance, you will be responsible for all “non-covered” services and/or co-insurances/co-pays. Incomplete or inaccurate insurance information may result in being responsible for the balance if the office is unable to collect in full from your insurance.


Moon Brook Medicine cannot bill any Medicare or VT Blue Advantage plans. Medicare guidelines require a Doctor of Medicine (MD) to treat or supervise your sessions which we do not have. If you inquire about acupuncture benefits please keep in mind that although Medicare states acupuncture is a covered benefit, no Licensed Acupuncturist is recognized by Medicare in any state. We are more than happy to provide you with a Superbill which you can submit for possible reimbursement.
